An easy and delicious salted oven roasted pecans recipe. These roasted pecans are the perfect addictive appetizer for parties or gatherings. This simple recipe is ready in under 30 minutes!

I’ve said it many times, and truly believe it’s true.

Simple is best.

That’s the first thing that came to mind when I decided to share this salted oven roasted pecan recipe. I’m not totally sure it should be called a recipe, because it’s so simple…but we’re calling it that anyway! This is an old family recipe that I first tasted at my in-laws. My husband’s grandmother made these, and after she passed away, her daughters made them. They are a great addition to any gathering, and they make a lovely homemade gift.

Easy Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. (Optional)
  • Place pecans in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  • Cut 4 slices of salted butter, 1 tablespoon each.
  • Cut each butter pat into 6 small pieces.
  • Drop butter pieces evenly over pecan halves.
  • Evenly sprinkle the salt over the pecans/butter.
  • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and stir pecans well until all are coated with butter and salt.
  • Return the pecans to one layer on the cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes more.
  • Watch closely at the end so the pecans don’t get too done. You want them to be golden brown.
  • Remove from oven. Cool on cookie sheet to room temperature.
  • Store in an airtight container or resealable freezer bag.

Ingredient Notes

  • I use salted butter, but it’s fine to use unsalted if that’s what you have on hand. There is no need to add extra salt.
  • We like our pecans buttery, so I use 4 tablespoons of butter. If you would like toasted pecans that are a bit dryer, use less butter. The butter amount can definitely be adjusted to your own taste.
  • Any kind of salt can be used: kosher salt, sea salt, or pink himalayan salt.
  • To make a double batch, simply double the ingredients and use two baking sheets.

Variations

  • For a bit more flavor, replace 1/2 teaspoon of the salt with 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning salt.
  • Make cinnamon pecans by using a cinnamon sugar mixture instead of salt. Combine 2 teaspoons granulated sugar,1 teaspoon cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Add to the pecans before baking.
  • For some extra zing, add a few shakes of chili powder or red pepper flakes, or sprinkle worcestershire sauce.
  • Drizzle maple syrup on the pecans before baking and cut the salt amount to 1/2 teaspoon.

Ways To Use Oven Roasted Pecans

  • Eat these delicious nuts just as they are!
  • Serve them on on your favorite salads, or use them in chicken salad.
  • Add them to a charcuterie board.
  • Use them as a topping for ice cream sundaes.
  • Layer yogurt, fresh fruit, and these pecan pieces to make yogurt parfaits.
  • For a salty snack, combine these pecans with other nuts, seeds, and dried fruit to make your own homemade trail mix.
  • Blend these pecans in a food processor to make pecan butter.
  • Crush salted roasted pecans and use them as a coating for chicken or fish. (One of our local restaurants serves pecan crusted chicken and it’s truly amazing.)
  • My favorite way to serve this easy recipe is to fill a beautiful small bowl. Use your favorite bowl, use something festive for the holidays, or use a wooden pedestal bowl.

That’s it! Roasting pecans with this oven method is so easy. All you need to make this delicious treat are three simple ingredients, and less than thirty minutes. If you love pecans, this is sure to become one of your favorite recipes.
