Must-Have Camping Necessities You Can Buy at the Dollar Tree

Don’t break the bank when planning for your next outdoor adventure, shop your local dollar store before heading to the big box store and you may be surprised how much money you’ll save! Before you start reading, did you know that you can purchase items from Dollar Tree online and have them shipped to your home? I love online ordering! Especially since it’s hard for me to get out right now because my husband just had surgery. If you have small children that you don’t want to drag in the store, are short on time or simply prefer to do your shopping online, you may appreciate that you can do all your shopping online and receive Free Shipping to your Local Store!

Disposable Dishes and Cups

Camping should be a time for everyone to relax, not for mom to do the dishes and clean up after everyone. Disposable party plates and cups make cleanup easy. These paper plates are really cute for fall.

Fortunately, you can buy recycled and recyclable dishes and cups so you don’t have to feel guilty about using single-use times. I choose melamine plates so I don’t have to worry about breakage.

These items for camping can easily be found in the seasonal section or the party aisle of your local Dollar Tree. You can get everything you need to enjoy delicious camping meals for just $1!

They have pretty large packages for just a dollar, and you don’t have to worry about cleanup or storage space in your camping gear.

Plastic Storage Bags

There are endless uses for plastic storage bags. It’s always nice to have several on hand, so this is one item that is always on our camping gear list. You can store wet clothes, send leftovers home with your camp neighbors and package up anything that would otherwise be loose, like clothespins or a deck of cards.

Plastic bags are an easy way to keep water and bugs out of anything you have lying around, whether it’s sweet treats or a paperback book. These are often a seasonal item, so if you see them, grab as many as you can. These are great for organizing and storage too!

Barbecue Forks

When it comes to camping meals, nothing beats campfire cooking. It’s an easy way to get everyone involved in cooking their own meals, and you won’t have pots and pans to clean up after dinner!

Our list of things for camping always includes barbecue forks or skewers. You can cook hot dogs very easily over a fire, or marinate some meat and vegetables so everyone can build their own shish-kabob. Of course, the most important use for these is to cook s’mores over the fire after the sun goes down.

Tablecloths

Ever pulled into a campsite to find a picnic table covered in sticky marshmallow goo or bird poop? It’s practically a rite of passage for campers. Or the old table that gives everyone splinters? That’s why a tablecloth is high on our list of camping essentials.

Usually found in the party section of Dollar Tree, you can find fun designs for your themed camping weekends. Since they are so cheap, grab a few as they have several uses.

In addition to making your camping meals more comfortable, you can also use them as a tarp or tent liner in case of emergency.

Camping Lights

Camping lights range from fun to functional, and it’s always nice to have several of them tossed into your camping things.

Used to light up your tent, they can help you find your tent in the dark, and you can also use them to line the tent ropes, which we always seem to trip on in the dark.

Clip-on lights are perfect to attach to your backpack or even your pet so you can always keep track of everything in camp. Glow sticks are great for this, too, and you can always find those at the Dollar Tree!

Door Mats

Camping can be pretty messy, but nobody wants dirt and sticks in their tent. These doormats aren’t the best quality, but they will help limit the dirt and grime from your tent!

At $1 each, you can buy several for each tent or camper in your group, and throw them out once they get dirty. You can even use your Cricut to dress them up a bit. How cute would that be?

No more packing up muddy rugs and tarps for your next camping trip.

Matches & Lighters

Is it even camping without a campfire? You definitely need a few ways to start a fire when camping. We consider matches and lighters to be essential camping gear. Think of them as backups for each other. Matches are super cheap, so you can get a lot of them for a dollar. (Just make sure you store them in one of those plastic storage bags we already mentioned!) Matches can last a very long time if stored properly, so go ahead and stock up on your next Dollar Tree trip.

Flashlights

You can never have too many flashlights. At home or on the road. When camping, flashlights are always in the top ten most essential camping gear. Whether you are in a tent or RV, you will need a portable light to find your way around the campground, especially for those late-night trips to the restrooms. Flashlights come in a variety of sizes and multipacks so you can get a different color for each member of the family. Just don’t forget to grab some batteries, too!

Snacks

Every mom knows the most important camping essentials with kids…it’s snacks!

The Dollar Tree has a great selection of snacks, including the supplies you’ll need to make s’ mores. They’ve got Hershey bars and Honey Grahams here, not just the generic Dollar Tree brand! They also have great deals on candy, chips, condiments, and spices.

When you are stocking up on stuff for camping, don’t forget how much hungrier everyone can be when they’re outside all day. Having tons of snacks on hand doesn’t have to ruin your camping trip budget when you shop at the Dollar Tree.

Bottled Water

We always seem to go through a lot of water when camping. Being outside, we drink more water, and having bottled water on hand is also handy for cooking and making hot chocolate. You can buy cases single-serving water bottles, or opt for the larger gallons of water. Even better, they sell refillable water containers, so you can fill them up at home and have fresh water on hand throughout your camping trip.

First Aid Supplies

It’s a good idea to replenish your camping first aid kit or at a minimum pick up a few first aid essentials like bandages and Neosporin before embarking on your next camping trip. You’ll find many of these items available at the Dollar Tree.

There are so many excellent Dollar Tree deals you can take advantage of for your next camping trip! While most of these items are seasonal, you can still find most of these at any time of year. With low prices, you can easily stock up and buy enough camping necessities to last you the whole camping season.
